fresh eyes

We've been living abroad for two years now. Very much have found our groove and great comforts in our new home here. Things have normalized.

But I must say, how refreshing it is, energizing, to see the place again, through fresh eyes.

We have some friends visiting these days and it has been such a joy to see them experience the beauty of our home and remind us of how lucky we are. How different the flow of life is here and to have them point out all the wonderful things about this new culture. Things I have started to take for granted and things I had stopped thinking about.

So nice to notice the birds again.

  1. It's true. We can take our homes for granted until we're reminded as you were.

I like seeing movies I like with someone new too. :)

  2. So refreshing! I just got home from a 3 day conference and I am so pumped about MY shower and MY bed.

Great reminder to appreciate the little things.

  3. Its so true, when people visit we start noticing all the good things around us again. Its nice.

  4. I SO understand.
If I spend 10 days away from home, I cry as the return flight passes Diamond Head.

    Comfort Spiral

  5. Must say 'welcome back' ! And congratulations on teh new eyes !

Sometimes you have to give to (re)get ! And the giving of the two years to a foreign land, perhaps gives the birds and their sounds a Dolby effect back home !

    Hmm !

  6. One of the best things about having guests is this chance to see things through someone else's eyes.

  7. One of the paybacks for hosting visitors!

  8. Like my grandmother always said....its thee small things you'll miss.

...and you may ask yourself, well...how did I get here?
